Tanker accident in Kannur: LPG caught fire, people moved to safer location

LPG-Tanker-AccidentKannur: A tanker lorry carrying LPG gas has over turned in Kannur today morning and caught fire. The accident has caused panic in the surrounding areas as the authorities doesn’t rule out chances of the tanker bursting.

The accident took place at around 4 AM in the morning, according to the statement given by the driver of tanker lorry, the truck over turned when he tried to avoid collision with a car which came in the wrong way.

The authorities have transferred people living in 1Km area of the accident to a safer location. Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala said all necessary steps required have been taken.

Tanker lorry accidents have become frequent in the roads of Kerala but the state has got just one rescue vehicle capable of transferring the gas from the wreckage, that too stationed in Kochi.
